Vietnam would receive around 4.886 million doses of AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine via the Covax program within the first half of 2021, according to a distribution forecast.
The supplied doses for Vietnam would mean around 2.5 million people will be immunized against Covid-19, USA.K.Embassy in Vietnam said on Thursday.AstraZeneca, responsible for the production of vaccines, is an Anglo-Swedish multinational biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical company with headquarters in Cambridge, England.
Original doses of AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford Covid-19 vaccines will be distributed through the Global Covid-19 Vaccine Facility (Covax), a global mechanism for development, production and procurement. Covid-19 vaccine candidates, facilitating and supporting Member States access to vaccines as they become available.
The agreement will be a complement to doses of the drug derived through another agreement between the Vietnamese government and AstraZeneca on Monday, in which AstraZeneca will supply the country with 30 million doses in the first half of this year to injected in water.
Globally, 96 to 153 million doses of the vaccine will be distributed through Covax.
For Covax's first interim distribution forecast, the dose provided will likely include 3.An average of 3% of the total population of this facility's 145 member countries, including Vietnam.
