The country moved from 67th position to 63rd out of 140 economies, according to the biennial Travel and Tourism Competitiveness report produced earlier this week by the World Economic Forum.

Vietnam's total score increased by 0.12 points from 2017 down to 3.9 thanks to improvements in international openness, visa policy, price competitiveness, airport infrastructure and tourism services.

The country's tourism has been constrained by low labor productivity and willingness to adopt advanced information and communication technologies, the report said.

Its competitiveness index in the category of visa requirements has made significant progress from 116th in 2017 to 53rd this year as the government is doing more to expand its visa exemption policies. real.

Vietnam currently exempts visas for visitors from 24 countries and issues e-visas to 80 countries and territories.

Spain holds the top spot in the global tourism competitiveness rankings, followed by France, Germany and Japan, along with the UK.NS.replaced the UK in the top five.

The report adds that Asia-Pacific is one of the fastest growing travel and tourism regions in this year's ranking.

Japan remains the most competitive travel and tourism economy in Asia, ranking fourth globally, while China is the largest travel and tourism economy in Asia Pacific and competitive. 13th globally.
