The first knockout game of AFC Asian Cup 2019 was tense for more than two hours.
Vietnam entered the game considered the underdog, being one of the third-ranked teams selected from the group stage, while Jordan topped their group by beating the defending champions Australia.
But surprises were made right at the opening as Vietnam were strongly on offensive, although they failed to convert any attacks into a first goal.
Jordan opened the scoreboard from a free kick in the 39th minute, but Vietnam stepped up their game in the second half. They launched many serious shots and scored an equalizer.
After the extra time went by goalless, the teams entered the penalty shootout, where Vietnam won 4-2.
