An online seminar on AI research and its application in disease diagnosis and treatment in Vietnam will proceed in Hanoi on Wednesday.

"AI Research, Development and Application in Healthcare," to be held online at the Ministry of Science and Technology office, would see the participation of multiple medical and tech experts.

The expert panel includes Associate Professor Nguyen Viet Nhung, Director of the Central Lung Hospital, and Chairman of the Vietnam Lung Association.He is scheduled to give a presentation on the application of AI in the diagnosis of tuberculosis and lung diseases.

The Ministry of Science has tasked the hospital with using technology to screen and detect TB patients by means of X-rays, Nhung said.The adoption of AI will further enhance doctors' diagnostic capabilities, he said.

“AI will help ease the burden on humans while increasing accuracy and ensuring there are no cases of slippage when using chest radiography,” he said.

Australian experts on the panel will also discuss the application of AI in research and development of new drugs.

Experts will also debate the advantages and challenges associated with AI applications, as well as recommend policies to promote AI research and application to create products that take advantage of this technology.

The seminar is part of the AI4VN Program organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, VnExpress and Sun Bright Art Creation and Event Organization Joint Stock Company in collaboration with the Aus4Innovation prograNS. , hosted by the Australian Embassy in Vietnam and Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

The conference will be held online from 9-11 a.NS. a.NS.on VnExpress and VnExpress.net fan page.
