The coming-of-age drama “Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass” was submitted by Vietnam's culture ministry for its high production value and artistry. Directed by prolific Vietnamese-American director Victor Vu, the film was produced with government funding and grossed nearly $3.6 million at the box office. “Yellow Flowers” is Vietnam’s seventh film to be submitted to the Academy Awards since 2007. The previous ones all failed to make it past the first round of consideration.
