Living in Vinh Tan Ward of Vinh Town, the capital of Nghe An, she was admitted to the Nghe An Friendship General Hospital on June 23 after contracting the new coronavirus.
A patient with diabetes and hypertension, her conditions quickly developed worse and she had to rely on a ventilator and go through dialysis in recent days.
She died late Sunday night but has not been registered into the national death tally by the Health Ministry.
Vietnam has recorded 16,782 community infections so far in the new wave that started in late April and has been the most challenging one since the beginning of the pandemic.
Nghe An has recorded 123 cases in this wave.
